Everyone, let me ask: a 586 motherboard, M2 CPU, 64MB RAM, TNT graphics card.
Will installing XP damage the hardware in any way? |

If you've got the courage, go ahead and install it!

It won't damage the hardware, but it will break your heart.

If XP is installed properly and the software settings are adjusted well, it can still run smoothly.

Let me give you a better answer: your computer actually can install XP, but it will be very slow. And restoring it afterward would also be a real hassle~ I'll tell you a good method: just install an XP-style desktop patch on your existing Windows 98 system. Then you can enjoy the XP interface, while your computer is still running 98. Isn't that nice?

Actually you'd still be better off installing 98. You wouldn't even need to install DOS separately, because 98 has pure DOS. What's the use of XP??? I don't think it's as practical as 98.

PCs with less than 128MB of RAM really shouldn't install XP, otherwise the machine will keep using the hard disk for read/write buffering, which is very hard on the hard drive. Without any bias, honestly speaking, XP really is a good thing.

I bought an MSI 848pe motherboard. When its sound card has a crackling noise, what's going on?

Bad drivers are what cause the noise.

With your old specs, if you install XP, even if it doesn't lag you to death it'll drag you to death,
hurry up and upgrade it |
