Ever since I registered on 2003-7-23, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never really made any contribution to China DOS Union. This time, asking to resign is not some sudden impulse on a whim, but a decision I made after thinking about it for a long time.
CDU is a forum with a very high technical level. Here I learned a lot, and also made many friends. Wengier, DD, Roy, IceBoy, Rushi, Green Pomelo, Shen Jie, Electric Guitar Invasion, Dongfang Lan… every one of them is so friendly and willing to help. All of it has made me feel so happy and encouraged. And yet, I’m unable to offer any help to China DOS Union.
Lately, my time has been getting more and more tight, and this long-standing sense of accomplishing nothing has been weighing on my mind to the point that even breathing feels a little difficult. The biggest blow I’ve suffered is a breakup. Maybe I’m not someone especially devoted, but to cut off four years of feelings just like that, and forget four years of happiness and sadness just like that—I think I still can’t bear that reality for the time being.
China DOS Union is indeed a relatively outstanding DOS forum in China, but if things keep developing as they are now, it will very likely become a second DOS Home, or even worse. Everyone knows the reason very well. The sad part is that we know the reason yet don’t correct it, we see the problem yet don’t solve it, and just let time pass, wasting some very good opportunities. For example, the book project I heard about when I first came to China DOS Union… I once tried to make some effort together with everyone, but after all my technical ability is too weak. Even writing the simplest DOS command reference, I made errors and omissions everywhere. And with the start of school and a whole series of other unfavorable factors, some plans that had originally been arranged kept getting shelved again and again because of manpower and time, and what was left in the end was only a joke.
When I occasionally have time to come to the forum and see some posts asking for my help, but I’m powerless to do anything, my face practically turns red down to my neck. What is a moderator? What should a moderator do? I think the only thing I can do is give up, set aside this position that I’m not competent for, and do some things within my ability. At least let my future no longer regret mediocrity, at least let me still have memories later on.
When I have time I’ll still try to come by the forum and take a look. I still want to learn more myself. Compared with other places, some of the content here is much more practical. I’ll also continue to care about and support CDU as before, but I really have no way to continue serving as a moderator anymore. So please, don’t try to persuade me to stay.

And also Chanzong, MYS, MLD, and so on—many thanks for your help and support during this period of time.

No one has said you were unqualified as a moderator, so why hand in a resignation? If it’s because your studies or work are pressing and you don’t have time, that’s only natural, because aren’t you, me, and everyone else all busy? Studies and work come first! But before you resign I want to give you a gift. It’s my first work—just take it as a gift to welcome you. I hope you’ll give it to the one you love most. Come by my place to pick it up when you have time!

What are you talking about.. my technical level here is the worst.. cn_archer has always worked very hard.. I really admire that.. if you say you’re not qualified to be a moderator.. then wouldn’t Rushi have to blush???????????????????????

I also often don’t come by, and cn_archer has actually been quite conscientious. If it’s an emotional issue, then just give yourself a few days off first. You can think more slowly about resigning later.

Exactly, if you’re in a bad mood then put everything down and go relax in nature, cast aside all the troubles of the world, and become one with nature!

Don’t be like this. I originally promised to help organize the forum, but in the end I didn’t do much either, while you’ve always been serious and responsible

wengier has been painstakingly holding up this forum,
yet everyone keeps saying they want to leave...
It seems the forum really does have a lot of difficulties.
I haven’t been to the forum for a long time,
and for a while, I felt that
if the forum wasn’t properly organized and straightened out, it wouldn’t work.
But there was nothing I could do.
I also chose to avoid it.
It’s all been held up by wengier. The forum server has been changed again and again,
wengier really has worked hard!
Moving really is exhausting.
Everyone (whether moderators or members)
hopes CDU can keep going.
And everyone has also given CDU tremendous support.
If no one came to the forum, I believe no one could keep it going for long.
And what we see now is that the number of members and the number of posts are both already quite high...
That’s enough to have the standing to exchange friendly links with other forums...
Which shows the forum still has hope.
And I hope
that there will still come a day
when there is time, energy, and tremendous interest and motivation
to let the forum regain its youth.
So don’t talk about resigning for now,
at worst, just give yourself a break.
When you have time and are in the mood, come back and take a look.

Right, though I’m not a moderator here, I very much agree with the poster above.
