On a machine with 865PE/P4 2.4G/GF4 MX440, I installed WIN98 on a 6.4GB/UDMA33 hard drive (the IDE port supports UDMA100, but the hard drive cable is an ordinary 40-pin one)
98 installed normally, the motherboard drivers are normal too, but after installing the nVidia Detonator 40.72 (WHQL) driver, the system will not boot, showing the following:
VFAT Device Initialization Failed
A device or resource required by VFAT is not
present or unavailable
VFAT Cannot continue loading
System Halted.
Checked with genuine KV2004/Rising/NORTON ANTI for viruses, no virus found. Tried installing/removing the display card driver many times, but the problem is still there. How can this be solved?
