My XP has this kind of problem:
After startup, there is nothing on the desktop, no shortcuts, no taskbar, no status bar, no Start menu Only a blue screen |

First boot the system with the latest antivirus boot disk and do a full virus scan, then use the XP installation CD to repair the system.
