Do you need to run SMARTDRV.EXE from the Win98 disc like when installing XP? What is the use of the setup batch file under Windows Longhorn? What's the difference between it and setup inside sources? And what is the createStandaloneInstall batch file for?
Asking the experts for some pointers!   |

I tried running setup inside sources under DOS!
The system says "Cannot run under DOS!" So I'd like an expert to give me some guidance! |

Are you installing the English edition?
The installation process is the same as XP: first run smartdrv.exe, then find I386 and run WINNT.EXE, then just OK all the way! But in the English edition, all Chinese filenames show up as boxes, and Chinese web pages too. You'll need an XP Simplified Chinese edition disc to solve this problem! |

Look for WINNT.EXE on the installation disc yourself and see which directory it's in

I've installed it before, so let me tell you. It's not practical at all. Although you can make it support Chinese through the 2003 language pack, the results are not ideal. And if you don't have more than 512M of RAM, just give up.

It seems it can't be installed under DOS. This can only be installed under WINDOWS. I still haven't seen anyone install it under DOS
