My machine is rather old. I installed 98, then installed Restore Wizard, but this time when setting up the machine I forgot I had Restore Wizard installed. I restored with ghost, and only realized it afterward, but by then the system could no longer boot. What should I do to fix it?
If I connect this hard drive to another machine and format it, can I completely remove Restore Wizard? Thanks, waiting online

What, formatting still won't do? Then do a low-level format!

That's too serious, Brother Long, that'll be the death of me .
What I want to ask is whether I can connect it to another machine and repartition and format it. Can that completely get rid of Restore Wizard?

Why connect it to someone else's machine? Your own is enough. Don't you have a floppy drive or CD-ROM drive?

It seems formatting drive C is no use against Restore Wizard... When booting, press Ctrl+F10 and see if you can bring up Restore Wizard's uninstaller.

Generally speaking, Restore Wizard is installed in the MBR, so boot the machine from non-hard-disk media (damn, that sounds really freaking pretentious... doesn't that just mean a floppy or CD and the like), then run FDISK /MBR. But I've heard the /MBR parameter has a certain amount of risk; still, I've used it a few times and never had any problems

First clear the Restore Wizard information in the MBR, then clear the Restore Wizard information in the registry

There's a small program called mbrclear on the Internet. Download it, connect your hard drive to another machine, boot with that machine and run it; generally that can solve it

Just use a partition-table rebuilding program to rebuild the partition table
Also, you can make a boot floppy containing only the io.sys file, which can bypass Restore Wizard and boot the computer into windows98
