A man walked into a pet shop to buy a parrot.
The owner pointed at three parrots of different appearance standing on a branch and said, “The one on the left is worth 500 yuan.”
“What? A parrot can sell for that much?” the man was greatly surprised.
“Yes, because it can use a computer,” the owner replied.
The man asked the price of another parrot, and was told it was 1000 yuan.
The owner explained, “Besides the skills that parrot just had, it can also operate UNIX.”
The man was puzzled. He carefully asked the price of the third parrot, and was told it was 2000 yuan.
“What can it do then?” the man asked.
“To tell the truth, I’ve never seen it do anything, but the other two parrots both call it CEO”.

About online romance -- answering my wife's question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://tech.tom.com Oct. 28, 2002Source: Pacific Computer Net
Wife: How real is “online romance”?
Answer: If there is a 100-yuan bill lying on the road, whether anyone can pick it up depends on whether everyone is blind, dull, stupid, or crazy.
Wife: There was a young man and woman on TV whose online romance succeeded; that's real.
Answer: Can you guarantee that in your whole life you will never pick up money from the road?
Wife: Why do you always use “money” as the analogy?
Answer: Because for every hour spent falling in love online, you have to pay the telecom bureau 5 yuan 8 mao.
Wife: Can “online romance” be understood as Platonic love?
Answer: No. Because the other side might be an old man or an old woman, which would create a huge generation gap. But there was no generation gap between Plato and his lover.
Wife: Is “online romance” really completely absurd?
Answer: Whatever exists is reasonable, so it is not absurd. What I was just talking about was the universality of “online romance”; that does not rule out its individuality.
  Wife: Do you oppose it?
  Answer: No.
  Wife: Do you support it?
  Answer: No.
  Wife: Neutral?
Answer: Seems so. More accurately, I’m just a bystander, an observer.
Wife: Before marriage, did you ever consider “online romance”?
Answer: I tried it in practice.
  Wife: The result?
Answer: When I used the screen name “Little Lion,” no girls chased me! When I changed my name to “Blue Rose,” a whole bunch of brothers fell madly in love with me.
Wife: What did you think of that?
Answer: Smash the chat room, and stop using OICQ!
Wife: Marquez said: a man needs two women, one to love, the other to sew on buttons.
Answer: Byron once said: all tragedies end in death, all comedies end in marriage.
Wife: Do you think you've matured?
Answer: You know, every day at noon and in the evening I “surf” once each, because I’m curious. Curious people are still not mature, including the elderly Einstein.
Wife: I want to go online in the next room and have a spiritual exchange with you. How about it?
Answer: Who's going to mop the floor, wash the clothes, wash the vegetables, and cook?

Although this is an old thread, it's wonderful.
