Question from an outsider: a problem using the Super Boot Disk, wengier please come in - China DOS Union Forum

Hehe, first of all, thank you for making the Super Boot Disk. It’s done very well, and it reminded me of those old days when I went crazy optimizing memory just to play a game. But after not tinkering with DOS for several years, I’m much rustier now. I tried this boot disk, and the result was pretty painful for me. My external hard drive uses a Keshuo external hard drive enclosure, the chipset is ALI M5621, USB2.0. Machine specs: Cyrix 1.7G, 256M DDR, Intel845GL motherboard (sound card, graphics card, and network card all integrated). The USB controller should be Intel’s.

When booting with the boot disk you made, using the M3 section’s configuration, it hangs at some USB-related stuff, that is, USBCD detection finds nothing, then there are two more consecutive USB-related things, and it just stops there. The floppy drive light stays on constantly. Hehe, could it be caused by the driver? Using the M4 section’s configuration, it hangs after that graphical memory usage status display. The symptom is also that the floppy drive light stays on constantly, and the system stops responding. These two crash symptoms are about the same. Pressing NUMLOCK on the keypad doesn’t respond either. I’d like to ask what’s going on. Is there any solution? Hehe...

Also, I changed to another machine to try it, and it could boot, but it did not recognize my USB hard drive. The other machine was a Founder brand PC. I didn’t dare open the case, so I don’t know what USB controller it has. With M3 and M4 it didn’t crash, but unfortunately it still didn’t recognize my external hard drive... Also, what parameters does that Panasonic USB driver support? I saw an article online where CONFIG.SYS was written like this: devicehigh=USBASPI.SYS /v /w /e. I don’t know whether that has anything to do with it. If you have time, please help me analyze it a bit. "devicehigh=USBASPI.SYS /v /w /e" has very poor compatibility. Better take a look at the loading method used in the boot disk instead..
