The hard disk I originally used was 540M, and I used it after compressing it with DRVSPACE. After the system developed a fault, I reinstalled it but still couldn't use it. There are some WORD and EXECL files on the hard disk. I booted into DOS and put the files into a new directory, then deleted the operating system. Because the filenames are in Chinese and the total size is greater than 1.44M, I can't copy these useful files out.
After connecting this hard disk to a computer running WINXP, the files shown are different from the actual contents of the hard disk itself (maybe because of the compression). After booting with a DOS7.1 boot disk, the contents shown are the same as those shown under WINXP. If I start only COMMAND.COM I can see the original files, and after starting Chinese support I can also see the original files, but since I can't input Chinese, I still can't copy them.
Can I start a USB program and copy the files out through a USB flash drive, or copy the files out by filename with floppy disks? Thanks!
