The above is the screenshot of MINI 2000 you posted last time. Could you spare a little time and talk about what functions your MINI 2000 includes?

Sorry to trouble you! Thanks!

This image was first posted at Wuyou, but it got the “thread locked” treatment!
(I'd heard before that Wuyou liked locking people, but I didn't expect it to be true)

This really is a fully functional Windows 2000, but the success rate at 320M is too low; in practice it has to be 360M. The ghost file is over 100M.

I'm using this system right now. Add a Win98 and it's 493M total, with a 208M ghost file (see the image below).

Actually 320M is possible, it's just that I don't see how to reduce it much further, and on top of that I can't get rid of the system's hardware scan, so there's not much point in recommending it, and I put it on hold.

Thank you, MLD! Gold will shine sooner or later! A locked thread is nothing, that only means the moderator over there has no eye for it~!

320M or 360M, actually a few more megabytes don't matter. The key is the functions after optimization. Too many people are making MINI systems now just for use during system repair, with very simple functions...

I want to make a system that's both stable and compact for everyday use, but I just don't have enough experience!

I wonder whether MLD would be willing to write a tutorial on making MINI 2000?

Thanks for your reply!

Exactly, a stable and compact system is the main thing. It's already not easy for Win2000 to get down to a little over 300M.
Actually, Win2003 is a very good system; that's the one that ought to be slimmed down.

Does Lite support 2003?

Although I've heard 2003 is quite stable, supposedly it has some problems?

It feels like 2000 is already enough! (Actually, 98 seems enough too, hehe!)

The following is quoted from 公子好球 on 2003-11-3 22:12:59:

By the way, 公子好球, last time I saw your post about using XPLite. Could you talk about how to use it? Same as 98Lite?

Go take a look here: China Network Computer. It has the registration number for XPLite there. By the way, XPLite doesn't support Win2003, but I think slimming down Win2003 is a bit better than Win2000, because I found that Win2003 actually leaves a lot of stuff uninstalled, so slimming it down shouldn't be very hard.

Thanks!

What I wanted to ask is, have you used XPLite? Is it like 98Lite, used before installation, or do you use it after installing the 2000 or XP system to slim the system down?

Hehe~ after looking at the address you gave, I seem to understand a bit more! Used after installation?

Thanks!

XPLite is used after the system installation is completed; in this respect it's a bit different from 98Lite.
After running XPLite, first disable WinXP's file protection feature. After restarting the system, run XPLite again and then you can slim down the WinXP system. It's very simple, all graphical interface operations. If there are words you don't understand, you can use Kingsoft PowerWord, hehe
