How can I install a mini system onto a USB drive?
Can it boot with a system like that?
Also, after booting, can I use that operating system to access the computer's own hard disk?
That is to say, there is no operating system on my hard disk. When I want to use the computer, I boot from the USB drive. Then I use the computer from the USB drive, and save the data onto the computer's hard disk. Once the USB drive is unplugged, the computer can no longer be used.
Is it possible to make a USB-drive system like that?

I think so, as long as your USB drive supports booting.

The motherboard also has to support it.

My motherboard does support it, but I just can't get that 37M98 image here onto the USB drive. I extracted it with GHOSTEXP and copied it to the USB drive, but it won't boot. Do I still need to configure something?

Did you set the BIOS to boot from USB? Also, ordinary file copy commands cannot correctly copy the boot record; you have to use a dedicated command to copy it directly.

First make the USB drive into a boot disk. Usually after a USB drive boots it becomes drive A:. Then extract 98 and put it onto the USB drive. I haven't tried it, but it should be like this.
