I did a completely fresh installation of winxp under win98. Try flashing the BIOS back again and see whether it works normally. Sometimes a bad BIOS flash can affect the stability of the motherboard.
I had a motherboard get messed up by flashing before too; hehe!! So when flashing the BIOS you really have to be extra careful!

That message appeared when I was using the previous BIOS, so that's why I flashed the BIOS, but it's still the same. I really don't know why. Please let an expert tell me.

Reset the BIOS settings, or try setting the BIOS to its built-in safe mode.
Because after the BIOS is modified, the positions of its parameters in CMOS may be different, causing boot problems.

I set the BIOS to the default values and then installed again, but the above message still appeared. Still doesn't work.

《I’ll explain only with ＡＷＡＲＤ ＢＩＯＳ; ＡＭＩ is basically the same.
In a pure ＤＯＳ environment (not a ＤＯＳ window under Ｗｉｎｄｏｗｓ), type ＡＷＡＲＤＦＬＡＳＨ．ＥＸＥ／？ (of course you have to download this program first), and you will see all the available runtime parameters. What is used here are the two parameters ＳＮ and ＰＹ. ＳＮ means Ｓａｖｅ　ｏｌｄ　ＢＩＯＳ　ｆｉｌｅｓ＝ｎｏ, meaning do not save the old ＢＩＯＳ file (if it’s already broken, what’s the point of saving it). ＰＹ means Ｐｒｏｇｒａｍ＝ｙｅｓ, confirming that this program should be run. In the normal process of running the ＢＩＯＳ flash program, you need to choose whether to save the old ＢＩＯＳ file and whether to confirm the flash, but because after a failed ＢＩＯＳ upgrade the monitor will show a black screen when the computer starts again, you won’t be able to see the confirmation prompt on the screen. After adding these two parameters, this manual step can be skipped automatically.
Next is the most critical step---making the repair floppy disk. Be sure you read this carefully.
First, find a blank floppy disk and at the ＤＯＳ prompt type ｆｏｒｍａｔ　ａ：／ｓ to make the floppy a boot disk. Then copy the ｂｉｏｓ flash program ＡＷＡＲＤＦＬＡＳＨ．ＥＸＥ and the ＢＩＯＳ file (assuming it is ａｂｃ．ｂｉｎ) onto it. Finally, create the automatic batch file Ａｕｔｏｅｘｅｃ．ｂａｔ using the ｃｏｐｙ　ｃｏｎ command, its contents being only one line: ＡＷＡＲＤＥＦＬＡＳＨ．ＥＸＥ（space）／ＳＮ／ＰＹ（space）ａｂｃ．ｂｉｎ．The spaces absolutely must not be omitted!
Just insert this floppy disk into the computer whose ＢＩＯＳ is damaged, power it on, and after about 3 minutes the damaged ＢＩＯＳ can be repaired. Press the Ｆ１ key or the ＲＥＳＥＴ key and you’ll see the startup screen you’ve been hoping for all this time.
Finally, a few reminders for everyone: before flashing the ＢＩＯＳ, it’s best to go into ＣＯＭＳ and set the three options Ｖｉｄｅｏ　ＢＩＯＳ　Ｓｈａｄｏｗ, Ｖｉｄｅｏ　ＢＩＯＳ　Ｃａｃｈｅａｂｌｅ, and Ｓｙｓｔｅｍ　ＢＩＯＳ　Ｃａｃｈｅａｂｌｅ to Ｄｉｓａｂｌｅｄ, which can avoid some unexpected trouble.》
