Under DOS, printers usually do not need to be installed; you can just use LPT1 and so on directly.

But laser printers nowadays all use USB interfaces. Is there any universal driver under DOS?

Try USB4DOS. It is said to support USB printers..

Under DOS, if you only print ASCII, just use copy filename lpt1;
if you want to print Chinese characters or graphics, then you need a driver.

How can DOS turn into win98? That's a difficult problem.

I asked a lot of printer manufacturers, and they clearly replied that it can't be done. Has anyone actually installed one~?

I have the same problem too. At my workplace, a financial management system uses the DOS version of 【Zhuhai Yuanfang's Super Chinese System】. It used to use an LQ1900K dot-matrix printer, but now it has been replaced with an HPlj6pcl, and the vouchers cannot be printed. I came online looking around for solutions. It is said that HPLJ4L.COM can emulate a dot-matrix printer.
