After I booted the computer with the DOS 7.1 boot disk provided by this site, the following message appeared:
stage1 stage2 read error What is going on, and how can I fix it? |

It means a file read error. Could it be that some files on the disk are damaged?

It seems this problem can happen if the disk has been defragmented
