How to make an unattended Win98 installation
Question for all the experts:
I’ve seen other people’s Win98 installation CDs like this: it seems you only need to press Enter a few times at the beginning, and that’s it—unattended installation.
After looking up some materials, I learned that one method is to use Microsoft Batch 98 to make an answer file, named MSBATCH.INF,
and the installation format is: X:\WIN98\SETUP.EXE X:\WIN98\MSBATCH.INF
An absolute path must be used.
My question is:
We know that different partition layouts mean the drive letter of the installation CD is not fixed. How can we use the two files autowxwc.bat and config.sys to automatically determine the drive letter and automatically fill in the
X:\WIN98\SETUP.EXE X:\WIN98\MSBATCH.INF X: ?
Please give me more guidance!
I don’t know how other people made their installation CDs. If there’s some other way to make a fully automatic installation, that’s also what I’m hoping for.

Sure. In autoexec.bat, run findcd /s to assign the CD-ROM drive letter to %cdrom1%; then switch to the CD-ROM, enter the 98 installation directory, and directly run SETUP.EXE MSBATCH.INF. (When the answer file has the default name MSBATCH.INF and is in the same directory as the 98 installation files, you don’t need to add the filename after setup; it will be loaded automatically during installation.)
