I currently have a computer with no CD-ROM drive and no floppy drive, only a USB flash drive. The motherboard supports USB booting, and the system only has Win2000. Now my computer has a problem, and I want to boot from the USB drive into pure DOS, but Win2000 does not support pure DOS. What should I do? Please help me, everyone!!! Thanks!!!

vFloppy 1.0
“Integrate the boot floppy into the system!”
“Who still uses floppy disks often these days? But when the system breaks down or when installing an operating system, sometimes you still have to rely on a floppy disk. Is there any way to integrate the boot floppy into the system and boot DOS with CD support directly from the hard disk?”
By coincidence, I’ve always been a loyal reader of Computer Enthusiast. After reading the article “Put the floppy drive into the hard disk — The end of the floppy drive” in issue 18, published on September 15, 2003, I immediately rushed online to download it and followed the method in the magazine step by step. It really felt incredibly “POWER”... =^0^=
While being “shocked,” I naturally also felt that the “command line” operating method and handling “multiple files” were not very convenient. So it was only natural that I got the idea to “write a GUI graphical interface” for it, and I grabbed DELPHI
and fought through the whole night ... and finally wrote this little thing.

It’s quite easy to use, give it a try

1.After extracting the files, run VLOPPY.EXE.
2.As shown in the picture, check the box at position 1. For 2, set the 2.BOOTDISK.IMG program location. For 3, click Apply once.
3.That’s all, just that simple.
After doing the above, there will be one more line in BOOT.INI, take a look yourself.

This first requires that your hard disk partition be of a DOS-supported type such as fat32/fat16, otherwise even if DOS runs, the stuff on the hard disk will still be very hard to work with.
I seem to have mentioned before an article about installing win98/dos under xp. This is related to modifying the system boot record and the c:\boot.ini file, and also requires some utility software or at least debug. Fortunately now, besides vfloppy,

as for the idea behind vfloppy, my understanding is that it originally came from the idea of "calling IMG files" in multi-system boot menu CDs, and this was originally provided by tool files such as diskemu and diskemux. Hehe.

If drive C is not in NTFS format, please use “MS-DOS 7.10 full installation edition” to install DOS and automatically make it dual-boot; if drive C is in NTFS format, then first convert drive C to FAT16/32 format before installing, or use VFLOPPY to emulate a floppy disk image.

I tried VLOPPY.EXE, and it’s really, really great. Switching between different DOS boot disks is so convenient. Both the person who developed this software and the person who added the graphical interface are amazing. )
