wengier:
Thank you for giving me a prompt answer last time, but I still ran into a problem in the process of installing the sound card driver:
I added DEVICEHIGH=C:\SBINIT\SBINIT.COM in config.sys under C:\, and added SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H7 P320 T6 and SET SBPCI=C:\SBINIT in AUTOEXEC。BAT (note: these are the DOS environment settings for the sound card in my imitation Win98 system), and EMM386 has also been loaded. As a result, on startup it can only get to the MS-DOS71 boot screen and cannot enter the system. By booting from the CD into this partition and removing the .COM from CONFIG。SYS above, I can enter the system, but it says there is a problem with that SBINIT line in my CONFIG。SYS. I checked it carefully, and the path definitely cannot be wrong. At that point I ran SBINIT。COM directly, and the system said it could not read the SBPCI。INI file (its contents are attached below), but in a DOS window under the 98 system I can play MP3s.
Attached: 1. Previous post About sound card driver configuration
All you DOS experts:
My sound card is a Creative PCI128D. I downloaded an SBINIT file from FTP, probably the sb pci128 generic driver in the software category for the newer DOS era. After extracting it there are the following 8 files: sbpci.com sbpci.ini sbmixer.exe sbtest.exe mt32.exe sblegacy.exe sbload.exe sbpci.bin Which one is the driver file, and how should it be configured and set up? Please, experienced users, help answer this, thank you!!!!
2. Contents of SBPCI。INI:
; PCI Hardware Configuration
PCIPort=d000
PCIIRQ=10
; Ports - MPU-401 and Sound Blaster Device
Port=330

SBIRQ=7
; DMA Channels for Sound Blaster emulation

DMA16=7
; Switches - Self-Config, Sound Blaster emulation enable,
; Joystick enable, CD-DA enable, MM KeyBd enable
SelfConfig=true
SBEnable=true

CDVol=110
; Digital Settings
SPDIFMode=0
; Waveset - path and file name of current waveset
SynthFile=C:\creative\audio\dosdrv\DEFAULT.ECW( (I changed this part; originally it was SynthFile=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\eapci2m.ecw
wengier, sorry to trouble you, please help diagnose this, many, many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
