Long filename problem after network mapping, waiting online for an expert reply..
Under MS-DOS7.1 and MSCLIENT, using DOSLFN can display local long filenames, but after using NET USE for network mapping, it no longer works when viewing long filenames on the mapped drive. I think it may be an MSCLIENT problem.
Waiting online for an expert reply..

That's right, it is exactly an MSCLIENT problem. Unless MS releases an updated version of MSCLIENT that supports long filenames, then with MSCLIENT you cannot see long filenames on network drives.

It's DOS's own problem, both pieces of software are too old.

I found this out when messing around with it: NET USE * XX。XX。XX。XX /USER”“”“, only under DOS BOX (WIN2000) can long filenames be displayed correctly. (And your shortcut also has to be modified; the character set is best set to ASCII, GBK sometimes gives garbled text. Of course, if you want to see the other side's Chinese files, then choose GBK.)

And the network mapping interrupts that come with MSDOS7。1 in WIN98 are too old (you can look up DOS interrupts online, and you'll understand after you read about them), so it's not surprising that the mapping is incorrect. (Plus MSCLINET is also old software, so there's no way around it.)

It is definitely not a DOS problem itself, but an MSCLIENT problem.

Also, he means under pure MS-DOS 7.1 (the standalone installation edition), not under the DOS box in Win9x!

Is there any solution?
My goal is simply to get network access under DOS, and support long filenames.
