I just reinstalled my system. Right now I'm using Win2000 Professional to get online, with Rising Antivirus and Rising Personal Firewall installed, and I also updated the system through Windows Update. But as soon as I go online, before long the system reports that “svchost.exe” has encountered an error and must close, that is, the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminates unexpectedly, causing some important software to fail to run normally, such as Outlook, IE, Windows Media Player, and Control Panel. Note: it has already been confirmed that there is no virus in the system. What I'd like to ask everyone is, is there any good solution to this?

But after I installed “Skynet” now, it's fine!

But I already did a full system scan with “Rising”, and it didn't find any virus.

If even Rising with the latest virus definitions can't detect it, then there probably isn't one. But this problem can still happen even if you haven't been infected, because Microsoft's system itself has vulnerabilities. Find a patch and install it.

Ever since I installed “Skynet Personal Firewall”, it's been fine!

A network firewall can catch attacks exploiting that vulnerability, so it can solve the problem, but installing the patch would be better.

That's true, but the problem is that even after I patched the system, the above problem still appears. Really strange!
