wingier: I followed what you said, copied the main program and STAGE 1 (2) to c:\grub\, ran grub.exe, entered root (hd0,0), then setup(hd0). After installing and rebooting, what appeared was still the interface you get when running grub, that is -grub> Anything I type here is useless, and I don't know what I should type, so I had no choice but to restore the MBR; In the result menu shown during installation, item 1 and ... (forgot) were no; where did I go wrong? Just these 3 files aren't enough, right...? Which other one is needed? e2fs_stage1_5 fat_stage1_5

GRUB recognizes the menu.lst file as its menu, generally the c:\boot\menu.lst file. Here's a detailed introduction to how to use the GRUB menu, take a look:
