Just now I ran shsucdx and shsucdhd for a while in the DOS window of 98, this is 1; the 2nd program was to switch into DOS and use Rising DOS antivirus that doesn't need a floppy disk to check for viruses, and it modified vide-cdd.sys in config.sys, adding rem; then when I started up again, a boot menu appeared asking me to choose "hard disk or CD-ROM". If I chose hard disk, then the boot.ini selection thing would appear. But after starting up again once more, it was gone
