What does it mean to use DOS to back up VF? Does it mean backing up dbf files? When I was programming, I used compression software under DOS to back up database files.

The benefit is probably that other people can't get at it. For example, if you compress it with AIN software, those guys who only know how to use WINDOWS will never see what's inside, or you can back up important information under DOS when WINDOWS crashes. But under normal circumstances there's no need for it.

It saves disk space, and it's convenient for the program to use, no need to open compression software again to compress it. Also, like Teacher Mo said, for confidentiality, I used makecab and changed the extension when compressing.

Why don't you go take a look, there's also a BACKUP command in DOS?!
