IBM T42 installs DOS 6.22, runs MSD for testing, and the value of "Extended Memory" is displayed as -1024K. Does anyone know the reason? Thanks

Because your memory size exceeds the maximum memory size that MSD could recognize when it was designed. If represented in binary, that sign bit might be 1, so it is displayed as a negative number.
Using the detection software from back then to detect "now new" hardware is basically meaningless. [ Last edited by DOSforever on 2021-1-18 at 19:33 ] |
