Newcomer posts to chat... Originally wanted to ask if there are any interesting competitions, about DOS usage or development or something, but it seems there aren't...... Just started learning cmd DOS in computer, noticed such a forum, then want to know...

DOS is eliminated in the market, for personal use... What can DOS be used for?? (Draw some retro pictures, play some retro games?)

First, let's clarify that CMD and DOS are not the same thing.

CMD is the Command Prompt, a command-line program on the Windows system.

DOS is the Disk Operating System. It's not just limited to entering commands; it can also operate as an operating system to run software.

=================================================

For personal use, based on current usage habits, DOS isn't of much use either.

If we consider focus, DOS is almost hard to be interrupted, especially when working, because it won't have various pop-up windows suddenly appearing like graphical programs do at some time.

In short, in my personal opinion, it depends on your actual situation.

MS-DOS or more ancient knowledge and technologies can serve as the foundation for you to learn modern knowledge.

It is precisely because it is small enough and "simple" that it can make it easier for modern people like you to learn and understand (saying it's "simple" is because you can use modern technologies, knowledge, perspectives, and thoughts to learn and promote the past technologies. If you can't...).

If a thing has withstood the baptism of history and the changes of the times and still remains today, then it must be a essence worthy of your understanding (everyone's computer direction and the person they want to become are different, so "understanding" is used here instead of "in-depth study").

Of course, I am also a newbie who has just entered MS-DOS. If there are any mistakes in what I said, I hope the experts can give guidance.

I hope this reply is helpful to you.
