I got an I/O error on drive C:, and now Win98 won't start (WinNT boot loader).
What's going on??
I heard repartitioning is the only thing that works. Or reinstall 98.
If I reinstall 98, then my WIN2000/XP/SERVER20003 all won't be able to start.
This I/O error has been showing up specifically these past two months. And it always happens when installing DOS-based systems.

Defragment the disk where io.sys is located

If that doesn't work, reinstall it (after installing, use the XP installation CD to restore BOOTSECT)
Somehow somewhere I've got to choose.
No matter if it is win or lose.
