On 845G/GL, using the settings auto-detected by UMBPCI, the usable UMB obtained is very small, and as soon as HIRAM is used the machine hangs. After many tests and N crashes, I finally got the two to work together and obtained more UMB. I'm sharing the settings with everyone here, and hope others will also share their successful settings on 845-series machines so we can compare notes. My settings worked on the Acorp 4D845G and PCQS QS-I845GL+ motherboards. The settings are as follows:
DEVICE=UMBPCI.SYS /I=D400-EFFF
DEVICE=HIRAM.EXE /X=CC00-D0FF
In addition, after testing on the PCQS QS-I845PE+ (845PE chipset), I found that the UMBPCI setting stays the same, but HIRAM needs to be changed to:
DEVICE=HIRAM.EXE /x=d000-d5ff /x=d700-d7ff /x=d900-dbff /x=dd00-deff /x=ed00-eeff
DEVICE=UMBPCI.SYS /I=D400-EFFF
DEVICE=HIRAM.EXE /X=CC00-D0FF
In addition, after testing on the PCQS QS-I845PE+ (845PE chipset), I found that the UMBPCI setting stays the same, but HIRAM needs to be changed to:
DEVICE=HIRAM.EXE /x=d000-d5ff /x=d700-d7ff /x=d900-dbff /x=dd00-deff /x=ed00-eeff
