I read a DOS 6.22 practical encyclopedia
But I always feel like I’m just learning some commands, public or secret, but in the end they’re just commands, things other people defined, and you can only use them the way they tell you to I studied C once through I really don’t know how to go deeper now, experts please give me some guidance |

Experts are forged through real use. Look for more chances to use what you’ve learned to solve computer problems for yourself and others, and keep exploring how to do it even better. Then you’ll become an expert.

It is said that a computer expert must be proficient in DOS, C, MASM assembly, UINX or LINUX systems, networking, etc. Of course, one also has to know how to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software faults.

So what should I study now?
I think many beginners who love computers and hope that China will become a computer powerhouse in the future must have the same confusion as I do I hope everyone can discuss this: 1。Learning path: what areas of knowledge need to be studied, and in what order 2。Books. There are too many irresponsible books now; they only delay learning. I eagerly look forward to your participation! |

I actually think any expert is relative.
I myself basically don’t understand programming, and I don’t understand other things either. I only know how to use some software tools, and when many people call me an expert I feel quite ashamed. But I personally think there are two important points in being an expert: First, being willing to keep learning, keep exploring, overcome difficulties, solve all kinds of problems encountered while using computers, and improve yourself. Second, having a spirit of dedication, using the skills you have learned to serve others. An expert is not something you call yourself. When you can solve practical problems for many people, then even if you say you’re not an expert, it seems that won’t do anymore. |

I also agree with the moderator. I also started from a DOS disk in 1988. At that time I had only learned BASIC. Even now I don’t know any other programming languages. But I want to learn. Back then the computers at school were Apple machines, with a big external floppy drive attached. So even now I still like DOS. Because it can solve a lot of problems. Also, using DOS gives me the feeling that the computer’s operation is under my control. Its results are also what I expect. In one sentence, the computer does what I tell it to do. You won’t have this feeling with other operating systems.

I now think it is: DOS+ASM+C.
Not sure if that’s right, only trying it will tell ![]() |

ASM is too old and low-level, only suitable for use by certain specialists. If you really want to do intermediate to advanced programming under DOS, you’d do better to use the DJGPP(C)+Allegro combination that has become popular abroad in recent years; it’s much more powerful and practical.
