As the title says, I activated the 486 antique computer. The original Quantum 1.2GB hard drive is a bit small. I want to replace it with a larger one, but I can't remember how large a hard drive the 486 motherboard can support. Can anyone tell me about it?

Computers with 486 and 586 processors are products from the mid-1990s. For the mainstream configurations back then, the hard drives were within 3.2G, or even smaller. There was a COMPAG 586 machine with only a 1.2G hard drive. If it's a VCD movie within 40 minutes, it requires a capacity of 0.65G.

Okay, thank you. Indeed, my Compaq 486 BIOS still manually enters CHS parameters to set up the hard drive, and I must create a non-DOS partition on the hard drive using the installation disk to enter the BIOS settings.
