I ran into a problem while using "MS-DOS 7.10 Full Installation Edition (with graphical installer)" from the pinned post in the Boot Techniques section: No matter whether I choose the complete mode with add-on or the minimal mode that saves as much as possible, after installation it won't boot, and all I get is the cursor blinking constantly in the upper-left corner of a black screen My specs AthlonXP 2000+ HY 512M DDR Soltek Nforce2 Gainward Geforce4 Ti4800SE 64M DDR SB Live!5.1D Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80G ATA133 16x DVD+52x CDRW I sincerely ask the DOS experts here for guidance, thanks~

What was the previous operating system? When installing, did you choose not to copy the system files or boot sector?

win2000 professional I chose to rewrite the MBR and create a multi-boot setup

Do you mean that after the Win2K boot menu appears, choosing the MS-DOS entry won't boot?

Yes After choosing Dos 7.10, all I get is the cursor blinking constantly in the upper-left corner of a black screen

I'm guessing it's because there's something wrong with the disk or there is fragmentation, causing IO.SYS to be non-contiguous. The MS-DOS 7.10 installer did mention this during installation, namely that you should use SCANDISK and DEFRAG to check and tidy up the disk.
