PII266, 24X, 64M, 4M VIDEO, FLOPY DISK, 4.3G IDE DISK A dream setup! I can finally compile my DJGPP C++ programs on it, awesome, and when there's nothing to do I can also run LINUX4.2, so nice............. PERL5.6 actually compiled successfully on it, ah!!!! Am I dreaming or what? So happy! Finally have a CD-ROM drive too, goodbye to those 40 floppy disks for reinstalling the system, so happy.... The screen finally has color too. Seeing the colors from the SET EDIT.5 screensaver on it and having a graphics card that supports VBE3.0, there's no way to describe how good that feels. The old days were no life at all...

OP, your hardware specs don't seem that high. So do you actually want a low-spec machine or a high-spec one?

No way.... this is already the P4 era... and a PII can count as a dream setup?? If you really want to use a PII, you'd be better off with a K6-2 or K6-2+. Not only is it cheaper, its performance is also much better than a PII....

Then what about mine? Mine is a cyrix 233 (already acquired by VIA), FYI VT580 motherboard (with 512K cache), 32M memory (brand-name), Trio64v2 dx/gx, 1M video memory (an S3 product, the king of 2D display back in the day). What do you all think of this setup, woohoo~~~~ (although it's a bit slow, the product quality back then really was good, this machine is super super super stable, the chance of it crashing is like winning the lottery)

Athlon 800/CHINATECH 7AJA(KT133)/384MB SDRAM/20GB ATA-66/TNT2Pro 32M/40x CD-ROM It crashes twice a day, and recently it even burned out the power supply

Look at one of my classmates' computers, so envious... (of course he didn't buy it himself) P3 XEON 1.8G x4/2GB PC-800 RDRAM/Geforce FX 5900 Ultra/Serverworks motherboard/480GB SCSI RAID His skill level... not too bad, but still not worthy of that computer
