I used batch files to make a menu for logoff, restart, and shutdown. Logoff and restart both work normally, but shutdown gives me: "It is now safe to turn off your computer." The hard drive has already stopped, but the power just won't turn off. If I go to Desktop - Properties - Power Management - and set pressing the power button to "Shut down", then when I press the power button it drops immediately, everything turns off. I really don't understand why. Can anyone help analyze this? Thanks.

Mine is like this too. I tried it on several machines, and it was the same. Looks like the shutdown software that comes with the system, the one that can do scheduled shutdown, doesn't work. Another shutdown program I downloaded separately, "Green Scheduled Shutdown 1.0", works.

I wonder if there's anything like the off.com under DOS in 98, something that can shut down and power off from the 2k-XP cmd with a command; if anyone knows, please let me know, many thanks...
