Why is it that after I boot with a DOS 7.1 boot disk, when I use A>sys c:to transfer the system, it always says error command or file name, and won't succeed?

First use DIR to see whether there is a SYS command on the disk.
It feels like you may have typed the command name wrong...

The SYS command is definitely there; I guess you typed the command name wrong.

If you want to install DOS 7.10 onto drive C:, you might as well use the “MS-DOS 7.10 full installation edition” to install it automatically.
