China DOS Union

Today I tried the DOS 7.1 boot disk made by the site admin Wengier (supports USB, FNTS, and 23 other functions). If I choose item 3 or 4, it won't load on my PC: with item 3 it stops at the startup screen, and with item 4 it says some file failed to load. Anyway, neither one can get me into a DOS drive. I don't know which release this disk is from either; I downloaded it from the Driver Service Station at www.pcshow.net. I often go out to repair other people's machines, and nowadays people using USB flash drives and WindowsXP are everywhere, so this kind of boot disk is still very useful to me.
Also, I wonder whether the site admin has looked into another thing that claims to be "a graphical operating system on a single floppy" -- QNX. I've used it before, and its compatibility is not bad. Maybe it could lead to some new discoveries for you.

QNX is said to be a graphical operating system on a single floppy. Its main function is going online through a moden, and the interface is a menu similar to Gost. You can go to Huajun Software Park or Sky Software Station and download the dome version (other software sites should have it too, I guess). Its homepage is: www.qnx.com

QNX? Most people know it, namely Quick Unix. It's completely different from DOS. But I tried it before and found it not very practical.

I tried it too, and it does have some practical use.

However, it has two drawbacks for us.
1. It doesn't support memory below 4M.
2. It not only supports MODEM, but also network cards, except that the user needs to know detailed hardware parameters (as painful as configuring early LINUX)
3. It's not true GNU software. You can only download a boot disk from the QNX site to play with. The full version costs
money.
4. It is a product of the UNIX family, not a DOS-like system.
5. I once downloaded its full version from some foreign hacker site's FTP, and found that it is mainly used in embedded applications.

But it can be modified. It can use a Modem to get online, so we could modify DOS to use virtual dial-up networking or make it compatible with other Internet access methods. Then people using DOS could also use broadband under DOS. Hahahaha... (daydreaming)

Isn't it already possible to use a Modem or broadband to get online under DOS? I used to do that quite often during that period...

I didn't say it doesn't support other Internet access methods.
What I meant was "it not only supports getting online via MODEM"

After all, it's just a toy, the DEMO version. As for the official version, if you don't get into the FTP of a real foreign cracking group,
you can't get it.

Under DOS, it seems like each Internet access method needs its own software. Is there some packaged program that can handle all Internet access methods by itself? It would be even better if it also had an integrated browser and FTP interface.

There are a great many tools under DOS, it's just that most of them aren't integrated together. Take Internet tools for example: network card drivers, dial-up software, web browsers, and so on, everything is there. But only Arachne has integrated these functions to a certain extent...

It's just a pity that it doesn't support Chinese. A domestic company had contacted them and wanted them to provide part of the source code.
Unfortunately they weren't interested, because this project had some research nature to it, and they were more
interested in supporting European characters.
