Hello:
I have a question for you: my computer was formatted by someone with a command under DOS. In the dorm, the computers from several dorm rooms form a LAN of more than twenty machines. I don't know what method that person used to get into my system, nor why my computer could be controlled by someone from another computer. I also don't know how he was able to install software onto my C drive from his own computer. My C, D, E, and F drives were clearly not shared, yet he could still know what was on those drives. All my personal privacy has been exposed to him.

What method did he use? How can I guard against it?

I sincerely ask for your help.

What I'm most afraid of is this—sharing. If you didn't set up sharing, does that mean your machine can't be shared? You should know that as long as you open a webpage containing a malicious sharing script, your machine gets shared, and then she can freely view and handle all your good stuff. I suggest you install Rising Antivirus + a firewall, otherwise you won't feel any sense of security.

Hehe, what are you talking about. Even if you have a firewall, it's still possible to establish an IPC null session with you, and there's still the possibility of an RPC remote overflow.
I can get into my classmates' machines whenever I want.

Machines with the NT kernel are just like that. Install the patch and set a good password, that would be better. A firewall is still necessary too; blocking requests to certain ports should still have some effect.

Actually, the best intrusion is to operate directly on your machine.
Impossible to guard against.

It could also be a Trojan. Things like Grey Pigeon can completely control the other party's file system, whether or not sharing is enabled.

LemonHall, I'd like to learn a bit from you—namely, how to carry out RPC remote overflow. I wonder if you could give me some pointers; QQ would be fine too.
