Spielberg’s masterpiece, go watch it. The classic example of a “Close Encounter of the Third Kind” is this: you’re driving alone late at night on an interstate highway, listening to the radio. Suddenly the station frequency drifts, the broadcast cuts out, and you’re puzzled. Right at that moment, a blinding light engulfs everything outside the window, so bright it’s unbearable. You floor the gas and speed away, but the car completely stops obeying you. No matter what you do, it’s useless, and you are utterly isolated! Then you start to feel dizzy. When you look up, you see a dazzling, brilliant disc circling above your head. Right after that, you know nothing more... When daylight comes, you find yourself lying by the roadside, as if you had just had a dream. Everything is back to normal. Get in your car and head home. This is the most classic, most real “Close Encounter of the Third Kind,” got it? |
