I tried it. It seems that this version is not very stable and often freezes.

This version has been very stable on my machine. I have been using it for four or five years and have never had any problems. The configuration of my machine: P4 2.0 CPU
256MB RAM
80GB hard disk
Software environment: PCDOS 2000 DRDOS 7.03 WINDOWS 98SE WINDOWS Me

In addition: AMD 5x86 133
16MB RAM
540MB hard disk
Software environment: PCDOS 2000 DRDOS 7.03 WINDOWS 98SE

Often, when running in the DOS window of Win98, it frequently freezes. The original version didn't have this issue. When running in real-mode DOS, after exiting and then running again, it often freezes.

The main program (CCDOS.EXE) of the CCDOS97 I cracked has been processed with software compression such as TRAP and TS. The freeze may be caused by the unstable operation of the compression software shell on your machine. This version of CCDOS97 runs very stably on several of my machines. I have experimented many times and haven't encountered the situation you met. Please use a shell-breaking software to break the shell and then try again to see if there is still a freeze. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the freeze.

In addition, if this version of CCDOS97 freezes when running in the real DOS mode of Windows 9x on some machines, you can solve the problem by turning off the direct screen writing function. This is a problem I just discovered. It is estimated that it is related to some antique graphics cards not supporting direct screen writing well.
