Don't tell me everyone has a 486 and spends all day just running DOS.

Using multi-boot?

Using a DOS emulator?

A separate small hard drive?

Windows MSdos7+?

Just asking~ thanks.

The computer at my workplace from 1995 is still in service.
Its only operating system is DOS.
It's just been upgraded from MSDOS6.0 to 6.22.
At home I generally use DOS with a boot CD and a boot floppy.

I generally use emulators like VPC, but of course when the system crashes, I still need a boot disk.

MSDOS7.10 installed on the machine, and 6.22 installed on the VM (I'm considering whether I should delete it).

Lately I've been using VMWare more often. Inside it is MS-DOS 7.10 (installed using the “MS-DOS 7.10 full installation edition”), and later I also installed Win3.x/9x GUI and so on on top of it.

I have two PCs, connected with KVC, sharing one monitor, one keyboard, and mouse; one of the PCs is dedicated to running DOS.

Me, I really do have a 486 running DOS. It has a full DJGPP package on it, can run PERL5, feels a lot like LINUX.
Hehe

Pretty impressive.
Hehe~

A few days ago I saw a DOS emulator, pretty good. It can directly mount a disk directory into it.
Called something like dosbox. Recommending it~

I'm still using VM, hehe~

PS: I admire people who use a 486. Before, when I wrote something on a 486 and compiled it, it took over 20s. And it always had errors too~ sigh~

Actually 20s is still considered fast. Compiling programs with DJGPP on a 486 is really painful.
Generally it won't finish compiling in less than 2 minutes (PS: my machine only has 4M of memory, and to compile 32-BIT
programs it probably used a lot of hard disk as memory, painful!! )

If you're in Jinan or Qingdao, I'll give you a stick of memory. edo16.
I can give you a P100 CPU too.

Hehe~

But why not upgrade? It doesn't cost much.

Can't help it, it's an old COMPAQ laptop, can't be upgraded anymore. Hehe.

^o^ Got it, got it~ hehe~

I guess you're doing low-level network development, right?

Some friends are like that too, using a 486 laptop, looks very comfortable. When they see me using Vc they get annoyed.
“Damn! For this little thing, asm is enough, why use Vc...”
Hehe~

I picked up a P50 laptop for 350, 16M+1.44+300HD+256-color display,
using TURBO BASIC to write an automated stock-picking program.
Who knows how to save graphics in BMP format in BASIC under DOS?
