I'm using wattcp and need to install a packet driver, but the NIC in my machine is from 3Com, model 3C5096, and the driver floppy is missing. It was booted and installed from 98. So, how can I get its packet driver?
Thanks! Urgent!

Check the NIC chipset, you should definitely be able to find it online.
There's a very good tool: www.google.com

Is it 3C5096 or 3C509b? I don't think I've ever heard of 3C5096. The driver for 3C509b is as followshttp://support.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/3c509/3c509x2.exe

Thanks, everyone, but I wonder if any of you know how to set up networking under DOS? I only need a very small LAN (a few machines), and it doesn't need to connect to the Internet.

You can use Netware Lite, or find an installation disc for Windows NT 4.0 Server and use the tools on it to make a DOS client.

How big is your wattcp documentation? If possible, send me a copy: forzhanghua@163.com
One more question: for a network under DOS, once the packet driver is loaded, can the network be considered set up? Or do you still need other software to build the network?
If loading the packet driver means the network is established, then how should things like the local IP and gateway be set?
Urgent! Thanks!

The packet driver only loads the low-level NIC driver. To get on a network, you still need protocol support.
