I tried it once, and this is what happened: first I used NERO to burn an image file, then later I found that a few files were missing, so I appended them. As a result, I found that in NERO there were two tracks, but in Windows I could only see the content that was appended later; the earlier content disappeared...

You can first make the original bootable CD into an ISO file, then add to the ISO file and burn it again. The premise is that you use a CD-RW disc. NERO's multi-session function isn't really practical.

Why not just burn another one? A blank disc only costs a few yuan. Some optical drives have poor compatibility, and even if the disc is successfully added to, they may only be able to read one segment.

Yes, it can. If you're only appending files, it is possible to keep both the original boot function and the appended files working at the same time. But if you want to change the contents of the boot information, that's impossible. To solve this contradiction, this is what I did:
Since files can be appended, and most bootable CDs boot by relying on a boot floppy image, I added a call in the autoexedc.bat inside the boot floppy image to a bat batch file on the CD. If changes are needed, you only have to append a bat batch file to overwrite the original one on the CD. That way the boot disk's function is reduced to just booting the computer, mounting the CD-ROM drive, determining the CD's drive letter, and calling the CD's bat program.
