Now I’ve made a classification of foreign DOS software websites (not including other DOS sites, such as sites introducing DOS knowledge), and the result is as follows:

1: Standard DOS software websites: this type of DOS software website is the most common. They mainly collect various relatively new DOS software, updating regularly or irregularly, much like domestic Windows software sites.

2: Specialized-category DOS software websites: this type of DOS software website specializes in collecting a certain kind of DOS software, such as various network tools under DOS, both new and old.

3: Personal DOS software websites: this type of DOS software website is dedicated to placing all the DOS software written by one person himself, generally content from the personal homepage of a foreign DOS programmer.

4: Abandonware software DOS websites: this type of DOS website is mainly used to collect relatively old and already abandoned DOS software of various kinds. But this type of DOS software website is comparatively rare abroad.

5: Websites collecting DOS tools used for maintaining Windows systems: very rare abroad; I don’t think I’ve really seen any yet.

The above are the main types of foreign DOS software websites. However, things are quite different domestically. Domestic DOS websites are almost all of the last two types, the two types that are least common abroad, or a combination of these two types. The backwardness of domestic DOS websites can be seen from this.

The fourth type is too hard to find; there’s almost none in China.

No way, the old “Qibu” website was exactly the fourth type. “Little Sea Boat,” “DOS Museum,” and others are also the fourth type. Maybe you meant that ironically.

DOS-type websites themselves are relatively rare in China.

That’s why I say China is behind.
