UMBPCI is a real-mode UMB driver. It can provide up to 162K of upper memory blocks to save conventional memory.

I'm even more hopelessly clueless. After downloading it, I saw there are a lot of files. If I want to put it on a boot disk, do I need to include all the files? Can I use fewer of them? I prefer things streamlined. Also, could you explain how to load the UMB driver? What should I put in AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS? Thanks, please advise.

Although there are many files in it, only UMBPCI.SYS is the main one. The others are just auxiliary files (such as help documentation, etc.), so you only need to load UMBPCI.SYS with the DEVICE command in CONFIG.SYS.

Can it provide more upper memory? Right now I'm using HIMEM and EMM386, and I can get 172K of upper memory. Of course I could get more, but if I want to enter WINDOWS, then I only have this much. What's the maximum amount of memory UMBPCI can provide, and how should it be written?

You need to add a few more I parameters, but you'll still have to ask an expert about it...,,,,,,,,,,,,
