Guys, let me ask you a question. I bought a pirated XP CD, but the CD has no boot files, so I can only go into its directory to install it. But the directory name is longer than 8 characters and doesn't conform to the 8.3 format. The path is: F:\SIMPCHIN\WINXP\PROFESSIONAL. Under DOS, using Dir shows the PROFESSIONAL directory name as PROFESSI. I tried PORFES~1 and still couldn't get into it. Please help me quickly.

Could it be that the directory name became lowercase? But under DOS 7.1 lowercase directory names are supported. Try using NORTON COMMAND or something similar to enter that directory.
