Can anyone tell me, in Word 2000, how can I make the underline sit a bit farther away from the text?

Draw the line yourself with the drawing tools, put it wherever you want.
If you want to use a character, then use this “ ̄” and put it on the next line... if that still isn't far enough, then use “—”
Somehow somewhere I've got to choose.

I saw this in Computer News, I think it was set in the font settings, I just forgot, so it isn't like what you answered.
