My question is:
Wouldn't just DRIVE=DUSE be enough? What's the use of so many parameters? Please add comments line by line.

That is only for DUSE 4.4 (because when that USB-only driver disk was released, DUSE 4.9 had not been published yet). For the latest version of DUSE, DUSE 4.9, it really is enough to just use DEVICE=DUSE.EXE.
