Friends:
Hello! Recently I got the urge to slim down my Windows 98 Second Edition a bit, that is, to strip down Windows 98 Second Edition. Goal: make Win98 as small as possible, while keeping some common functions, such as being able to run standard Win applications, access the Internet, sound, etc. I’m not asking to make it into a boot floppy, because that’s impossible. What I mean is, just create a new directory on the existing C: drive, copy the necessary required files, and make a stripped-down Win98. Problem: I know some other methods, but I’m not clear on the file list for slimming down Windows 98 Second Edition, so I’m asking you all for advice here. Thanks! |

Let’s limit it by function, that is, keep basic network, sound, and graphics support. As for how many MB, just strip it down to the minimum according to those retained functions I mentioned above.

If it’s more than 60MB, then forget it, because there’s already a ready-made one.
