Today I found that NTFSDOS Pro 5.0 is already out, and I tried it, but found that it is about the same as NTFSDOS Pro 4.0, with almost no updates at all, and it's not even as easy to use as the old NTFSDOS Pro 3.12. Really...
The 10 major characteristics of NTFSDOS Pro 4.0/5.0 are:
1: Very large conventional memory usage (150-250KB);
2: Even larger XMS memory usage (after installation, XMS memory is basically empty);
3: Still does not support Chinese long filenames (can't load c_936.nls);
4: Too large in size; it simply won't fit on one standard 1.44MB floppy disk;
5: Poor compatibility, cannot handle NTFS partitions from other versions properly (for example NTFS partitions from WinNT4 and Win2K);
6: Once loaded, it can't be exited at all (no /U option);
7: Too many BUGs, making NTFS partitions very unstable during operation;
8: Weak functionality; after loading, it's simply impossible to use other disk tools to operate on NTFS partitions;
9: Has compatibility problems with some software, such as DOSLFN, EDIT, etc.;
10: The NTFSDOS installer actually cannot run under DOS, and even when run under WIN it requires preparing two floppy disks for full-disk writing.
And it also has issues like registration and usage time limits.
