From the Big Bang to Black Holes: Getting Close to Hawking - China DOS Union Forum

We have all had this kind of experience: there is an old friend whom you know very well, but he may not know you. Hawking is this kind of old friend to me. Before I went to work in Britain in 1995, the two British people I most wanted to write about were one, Joseph Needham, an old friend of the Chinese people, and the other, Hawking, the “living Einstein.” Fortunately, both of these masters became subjects of my writing. The first time I met Hawking was in Cambridge, England, in 1995. Later I saw him on many occasions in Britain, and I also had close contact with him. Because in Britain, a Chinese person like me with black hair and yellow skin stood out rather a lot, I seemed to be able to tell from his expression that he was very interested in me, a foreigner, but he had no way to express it, and I had no way to verify it. This August, Hawking visited China again, and we had another close encounter. When I brought up these old memories to him in Beijing, he greeted me with a smile and a blink, and even took time out to let me visit him in his lounge and take a commemorative photo together. When I told him that Chinese readers really liked some of the articles I had written about him, he expressed his thanks with a smile. For 7 years now, whether in Britain or in China, I have been thinking of Hawking, this “old friend,” worrying about his health and feeling proud of his new achievements.

It says in there that the Big Bang was only the starting point, and in the end this world will have another Big Bang. As long as the amount of matter in this world is enough, one day the entire universe will gather together again, and then there will be another Big Bang! Then everything starts all over again!
