Asking for help on http://www2.zzu.edu.cn/ie/newdos/dispbbs.asp?boardID=9&ID=5035, and it's already been "a full month" with no solution yet, sigh.......
Please give me a hand, thanks in advance. Original post attached: MIC: In the DOS environment, implement timed shutdown of an ATX power supply I was lucky enough to find this website and hope to get some help. I want to find a small program that can implement timed shutdown of an ATX power supply in the DOS environment. Please, teachers, help me out. ztcmfk: Shutting down under DOS is possible, but as for timed shutdown, I don't know whether that exists or not. I haven't seen software like that! MIC: Since timed shutdown of an ATX power supply cannot be directly implemented, then can the idea be changed a bit —to indirectly implement timed shutdown of an ATX power supply. That is, Program A — can, at a set time, call some other program; shutdown program — implements ATX power-off. First run "Program A", and have it call the "shutdown program" at a certain time. Question: is there such a "timed calling program"? |

I know for sure it's possible. Doesn't Windows do it? Since Windows comes from DOS, at worst you could just take the shutdown part from it.

Sigh, your line of thinking is right.
The software all exists too! For a small utility that delays and then calls another program, look among batch-type software. As for ATX shutdown software, someone in China has written that before. Both of these are ready-made. The first one seems to be called something like DELAY... the second one I'm not too clear on. My 486 doesn't use an ATX power supply, so I never paid attention to it. |
