Can DOS, 98, XP, and Linux coexist in a 4-boot setup?
Put DOS and 98 on one partition, C:

Also, I don't know where to buy Red Hat. I haven't seen it sold in the pirate software market.
I have a copy of Red Hat 6.0, but that version is too old and its hardware support isn't good. How is hardware support in current Red Hat versions?

Thanks in advance, everyone!!

98 and DOS together is rather difficult, unless you use some other software to do it. But you can use a double-layer menu, set up in config.sys, msdos.sys, and autoexec.bat.

I strongly recommend using SPFDISK to fulfill your wish. Several of my own computers, including this Toshiba 5205 laptop I'm using now, were installed with at least four OSes using it. But my four OSes are these: Win98, Win2003, WinXP, and Redhat9.0.
By the way, Redhat 6 not only has very poor hardware support, it's also not easy to Chinese-localize. Back when I used it, it really gave me a headache, heh. I suggest you go look for Redhat; it should be easy enough to find. At least here in Dongguan we have it

Absolutely possible,
one hard disk can be divided into (4 Primary partition) note: 3 Primary + 1 extended,
and under the extended partition it can be divided into many logical partitions, note: it should support as many as 64!

If you want to directly dual-boot DOS and Win98 from the WinXP boot menu, you can try this:

C:\WINXP="Windows XP"
C:\="Windows 98" /win95
C:\="MS-DOS 7.10" /win95dos
C:\LINUX.DAT="RedHat Linux"

Supplement: in this case, for Win98's system files please use IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS, etc., while for MS-DOS 7.10's system files please use IO.DOS and MSDOS.DOS, etc.

I don't understand it too well. I hope you can explain it in more detail, friend above.
How exactly do you use IO.sys, msdos.sys, etc.?

Repartition it so that drive C is in FAT16 format, and divide the rest into an extended partition (you can also leave at least 3G of space unpartitioned). In the extended partition, make logical partitions as needed, but keep at least 3G of space reserved (if you already left it earlier, then omit this). Install DOS6.22, and back up the two files IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS. Install
LINUX, (process omitted) put its partition in the space reserved earlier; when choosing the boot file installation location, choose the partition it is on. Note: you must make a LINUX boot disk. Also note which partition the LINUX boot partition is, call it N. After installation is complete, boot LINUX with the boot disk, create two text files under /, named: bootsect.dos and bootsect.lnx, then under SHELL enter the commands: dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/bootsect.dos bs=512 count=1 and dd if=/dev/hda? of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1
(? is the N from earlier)Back up these two files to a floppy disk. Install WIN98 and WINXP, and back up IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS in the root directory of drive C (be careful to distinguish them from the earlier ones). Make file extensions visible, rename the first IO.SYS to IO.DOS, the first MSDOS.SYS to MSDOS.DOS, the second IO.SYS to WINBOOT.SYS, and the second MSDOS.SYS to MSDOS.W40. Rename BOOTSECT.DOS in the root directory of drive C to BOOTSECT.W98. Copy all the modified files mentioned above to the root directory (if nothing goes wrong, there should be no duplicate names). Modify the BOOT.INI file in the root directory of drive C

timeout=15
default=C:\BOOTSECT.DOS

C:\BOOTSECT.DOS = "Microsoft dos6.22" /WIN95DOS
C:\BOOTSECT.W98 = "Microsoft Windows 98" /WIN95
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(*)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\bootsect.lnx = "linux"

The number in the * position must not be changed!!! OK!

Why make drive C FAT16?? FAT32 is so much better! And various newer DOS versions such as MS-DOS 7.10 and ROM-DOS 7.10 all support FAT32.

Of course it's for installing DOS6.22. If you're installing some other DOS, then do it as needed.

I have an 800MB small hard disk, but no matter how I partition it (whether FAT16 or FAT32), MS-DOS6.x can only see at most 500MB of it (because DOS6 not only doesn't support FAT32, it also doesn't support large hard disks or extended X partitions), and with larger hard disks (like the 30-60GB big drives popular now), there's even less need to mention it. But MS-DOS 7.1 has no problems at all; after partitioning it as FAT32, it can see all the contents of the hard disk. So DOS6.22 should have been completely retired long ago.

So can 98 and XP be on the same partition?

Yes, but in XP change the installation directory to WINNT.
