About the issue of using Traditional Chinese under DOS
1、If you only want to see Traditional Chinese characters, then both CCBIOS213 and UCDOS can do it. They both have a Traditional Chinese fonts HZK16F, and there are also related startup parameters. At startup, use HZK16F in place of the Simplified Chinese fonts HZK16. You can also simply use HZK16F to replace HZK16. That way, you'll see WPS, CCED, etc. all turn into “Traditional Chinese” versions. 2、If you also want to print Traditional Chinese characters, then you must download their Traditional Chinese printing fonts. But CCBIOS213 and UCDOS both basically use GB code, so with the Traditional Chinese printing fonts, you can completely view Simplified Chinese while printing Traditional Chinese. If you want to use domestic Chinese character support systems to view BIG5-coded Traditional Chinese, the only one I know is CCDOS97. It uses CTRL+F8 to convert the internal encoding for display. The fonts it uses are the same as CCBIOS213 and UCDOS. 3、If you want to truly display and print BIG5-coded Traditional Chinese, then the only way is to install the Traditional Chinese edition of MSDOS or PCDOS, or use a Taiwanese Chinese character support system such as ETen Chinese. Fortunately, I can hook Wubi, Pinyin, and other input methods into it. If anyone needs it, just ask. |

Can UCDOS and the like be modified so they natively support Traditional Chinese?

In theory it should be possible, but in practice it isn't realistic. ETen even had a Simplified Chinese edition.

I need ETen with Wubi and Pinyin hooked in. By the way: can it run in a WINDOWS98 window?

I haven't tried using ETen in a WIN98 window, but I did make the Wubi hooked into ETen.
Below is the Traditional Chinese Wubi input method for ETen, converted over from UCWIN GOLD. For the Pinyin input method, you can go to www.cn-dos.net and download UC2X. It can convert the input methods in UCDOS for use in the ETen system. Open attachment |

I just downloaded the moderator's file, and then wanted to find the ETen Chinese system to try it out, but I couldn't find it. I wonder if the moderator could upload the ETen Chinese system again. Thanks in advance, little brother here.

I made a Chinese character support system display module myself that does not take up the clock and supports direct screen writing. It can be made to support several internal encodings such as GB, GBK, BIG5, Peking University 748 (as long as you know the pattern of a CJK internal encoding, you can match it with a program segment), etc. In an earlier post I published the program source code and executable for the GB internal encoding version, at http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1185&fpage=1&highlight=&page=2.
